She then went to Nassau University Medical Center in New York for Internship and Internal Medicine residency. Her pulmonology fellowship was completed at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City and then she went on for sleep medicine fellowship at University of New Mexico Sleep Disorders Center.

Dr. Mathur is a board-certified sleep physician and a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Virginia Society of Sleep Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians and American Thoracic Society.
